So.....
AC = 4 + 5
AC = 9cm.

Also ... we have .

AD is the tangent line and ABC is the secant line .

[By tangent secant property]

${ ad}^{2} = ab \times ac$
${ad}^{2} = 4 \times 9$
${ad}^{2} = 36$
[by taking square root to both sides]
$ad = 6\: cm.$
