Heya friend,

Here we go:

Diamond is an allotrope of carbon. Let us know about it and it's structure :

  • It has a crystalline lattice.
  • Each Carbon atom in diamond is linked to 4 other carbon atom and each of them undergoes sp^{3} hybridisation.
  • The carbon - carbon bond length is 154 pm.
  • In carbon, directional covalent bonds are present throughout the lattice and it produces a 3 - dimensional network of carbon atoms.
  • Due to this strong covalent bonding, carbon is the hardest substance on earth and even has a high melting point.

Thanks !
