Heya friend,
Here we go:
Diamond is an allotrope of carbon. Let us know about it and it's structure :
- It has a crystalline lattice.
- Each Carbon atom in diamond is linked to 4 other carbon atom and each of them undergoes s hybridisation.
- The carbon - carbon bond length is 154 pm.
- In carbon, directional covalent bonds are present throughout the lattice and it produces a 3 - dimensional network of carbon atoms.
- Due to this strong covalent bonding, carbon is the hardest substance on earth and even has a high melting point.
Thanks !
