Plot the points in a rough diagram and take them in order.

Let the vertices be A(1,2),B(−3,4) and C(−5,−6)

Now the area of △ABC is

{(x

{(4+18−10)−(−6−20−6)}

=

(12+32)=22 sq.units.

Given :-

  • Coordinates 1 (x1, y1) = (2, 3)
  • Coordinates 2 (x2, y2) = (6, 7)
  • Coordinates 3 (x3, y3) = (9, 8)

To Find :-

  • Find what is the area of triangle so formed ?

Formula used :-

  • Area = |(1/2)[x1(y2 - y3) + x2(y3 - y1) + x3(y1 - y2)]|

Solution :- (For rough diagram, refer to image.)

Putting all values we get,

→ Area = |(1/2)[2(7 - 8) + 6(8 - 3) + 9(3 - 7)]|

→ Area = (1/2)[2(-1) + 6(5) + 9(-4)]|

→ Area = |(1/2)(-2 + 30 - 36)|

→ Area = |(1/2)(-8)|

→ Area = |(-4)|

→ Area = 4 unit². (Ans.)
