PLOT A velocity-time graph for a body whose initial velocity in 5 m/s and is moving with retardation 5 m/s . also calculate the distance covered by it

Here, u = 5 m/s

And a =  -5 m/s^2

v = 0 ( Since it will come at rest after sometime )

v = u + at

0 = 5 + ( -5)(t)

- 5 / - 5 = t or t = 1 s

Distance covered?

Here we can use equation if motion but we will solve it graphically. Distance covered will be arra under V - T graph.

Area of triangle = 1 /2 × 5units × 1 unit

= 2.5 unit^2 = 2.5 m

s = ut + \frac{1}{2} a {t}^{2} \\ s = (5)(1) + \frac{1}{2} \times ( - 5) {(1)}^{2} \\ s = 5 - 2.5 \\ s = 2.5 \: m
