Plot the following points in the coordinate plane and join them. What is your conclusion
about the resulting figure?
(i) (–5,3) (–1,3) (0,3) (5,3) (ii) (0,–4) (0,–2) (0,4) (0,5)

I plotted the following points as we know, rule for plotting points :-
in first quadrant : x => positive , y => positive
2nd quadrant : x => negative , y => positive
3rd quadrant : x => negative , y => negative
4th quadrant : x => positive , y => negative.
after using this we got (-5,3), (-1,3), (0,3) and (5,3) lies on straight line because ordinate of all points are same . e.g., 3 . due to this straight line is horizontal and 3 unit above from the origin.

similarly, we got (0,-4),(0,-2), (0,4) and (0,5) lies on straight line. you can see absissa of all points are same and that is zero. due to this straight line is not other than y-axis. in 2nd figure , it is clearly shown .

hence, we conclude that both (1) and (ii) are placed on straight line as shown in figure.
