Answer:

TRAPEZIUM

AREA = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

plot the point on the coordinates plane A(1,4), B(4,4), C(6,0), D(1,0). Join AB, BC, CD, DA. Name the figure so obtained and find its area

After plotting the points the figure obtained is

TRAPEZIUM

To find its area we need to find height and two base

AD = Height = \sqrt{(0-4)^2 + (1-1)^2}  = \sqrt{16 + 0}  = \sqrt{16}  = 4

Base 1 = AB  & Base 2 = CD

AB = \sqrt{(4-4)^2 + (4-1)^2} = \sqrt{0 + 3^2} = \sqrt{9}  = 3

CD = \sqrt{(1-6)^2 + (0-0)^2}  =\sqrt{25}  = 5

Area = (1/2) (base 1 + Base 2 ) * height

=> Area = (1/2) ( 3 + 5) * 4

=> Area = 16
