Given: The points P (3,0), Q (7,9) R (6,9) and S (-2,0)

To find:  Name the figure PQRS ?   Find the area of PQRS?

Solution:

  • Now we have given the points P (3,0), Q (7,9) R (6,9) and S (-2,0) .
  • After plotting on graph it comes out to be a quadrilateral with no specific shape.
  • Now let A be (7,0) and B be (-2,9).
  • Now ASBQ forms rectangle

                   area of ASBQ = 9 X 9 = 81 cm^2

  • Now we will subtract area of triangle SBR and PAQ for area of rectangle.

                   area of SBR = 1/2 X 8 X 9 = 36 cm^2

                   area of PAQ = 1/2 X 4 X 9 = 18 cm^2

  • Now:

area of  PQRS = area of ASBQ - ( area of SBR + area of PAQ  )

                   area of  PQRS = 81 - (36 + 18)

                   area of  PQRS = 81 - (54)

                   area of  PQRS =27 cm^2

Answer:

So the area of PQRS is 27 cm^2.
