Given : point p(6,0)

To Find :  plot the point p(6,0) on a Cartesian plane

coordinates of a point where line PQ intersect y-axis

Solution:

To Plot a point P (6 , 0)

go 6 unit right of origin and mark point p

(6 , 0) point lies on x axis   and is 6 unit right of origin

line PQ intersect y-axis for that coordinates of Q are required

which are missing

assuming  Q  = (-2 , 8)

P (6 , 0) Q  = (-2 , 8)

Slope = ( 8 - 0)/(-2 - 6)  = - 1

line = y -  0   = -1(x - 6)

=> y = -x+  6

=> x + y = 6

at y axis x =  0

=> y =  6

Hence PQ intersect y axis at  ( 0 , 6)  if Q =  (-2 , 8)
