Answer:

(i). a parallelogram; 12 cm² (ii).  The invariant points (0, 2), (0, - 2).

Step-by-step explanation:

(i). ( PM ⊥ y-axis and QN ⊥ y-axis ⇒ PM║QN and PM = QN = 2 cm ) ⇒ quadrilateral PMQN is a parallelogram

Diagonal MN divides parallelogram PMQN into two right angled triangles.

A_{PMQN} = 2 × A_{MQN}

A_{MQN} = \frac{MN*NQ}{2}

MN = 4 cm , NQ = 3 cm

A_{MQN} = ( 4 × 3) ÷ 2 = 6 cm²

A_{PMQN} = 2 × 6 = 12 cm²

(ii). The invariant points (0, 2), (0, - 2).
