Plot the velocity time graph according to the given data and answer the following questions:

Graph is in the attachment !

 \rule{200}2

A . 1) Which part of the graph represents uniform/constant motion?

In velocity time graph for uniform motion mean that the velocity of the body is constant with time .

So from point B to D which is from 10 sec to 30 sec part of graph represents uniform/constant motion .

A . 2) Which part of the graph represents retarded motion?

In the graph , A body with retardation means that it is decreasing

So from point D to E which is from 40 sec to 50 sec part of the graph represents retarded motion .

 \rule{200}2

B. Find the acceleration of the body during the first 10 seconds.

We know that ,

  • Acceleration = a
  • final velocity = v
  • initial velocity = u
  • time interval = t

→ a = ( v - u ) / t

  • v = 40 m
  • u = 0 m
  • t = 10 sec

→ a = ( 40 - 0 ) / 10

→ a = 40 / 10

→ a = 4 m/s²

 \rule{200}2

C. What is the quantity which is measured by the area occupied below the v-t graph?

Displacement is the quantity which is measured by the area occupied below the v-t graph .

 \rule{200}2

D. Find the distance travelled by the body during the time, t=10 seconds to t= 30 seconds.

We know that distance travelled is area under graph . and from 10 to 30 seconds it is forming a rectangle .

hence , Distance travelled →

→ Area of rectangle = length × base

→ Area of rectangle = 40 × 20

→ Area of rectangle = 800 m
