6.023 \times  {10}^{23}

sidhu909: please explain ma'am
anushkachopada: when we write in scientific notation, we write in the form a.bcd×10^y .... so they have told that a.bcd=6.023 , and after 6, the are 23 numbers including zeroes... so y=23
anushkachopada: if it is still not clear, I'll be happy to explain again
sidhu909: yes ma'am please
anushkachopada: when we have to write something in scientific notation, it is to simplify the the number. eg- if you have some answer as 12.563462 , you would rather write it as 12.57 or 12.6. but when the number is even larger, like 12937000000, it is easier to write it as12.937 ×10^9. so it is easier to read, remember, and it is the same value when simplified. In scientific notation though, the should only be one digit to the left side of the decimal point. also, we round off some digits.
anushkachopada: so this number would be 1.2937×10^10 or 1.294×10^10
anushkachopada: when it is such a large power as 10^9,10^10 etc, rounding off abit doesn't affect much...
