Step-by-step explanation:

take LCM and find the value of 16/x-1

=(16-x)/x

(16-x)/x = 15/(x+1)

by cross multiplying

(x+1) (16-x) =15x

simply using identity

= 16x - x^2 +16 - x = 15x

= 16x - x^2 +16 - x -15x=0

= -x^2 + 16= 0

=x ^2-16=0

by splitting the middle term method..........where a+b=0 and ab= -16 (a= 4 , b= -4)

substituting

x^2-4x + 4x-16

taking common digit outside

x(x-4) 4(x-4)

=(x-4) (x+4)

x= 4, -4
