Explanation:

Given -

a) Butane + Oxygen → Carbon dioxide + water

b) Magnesium + silver nitrate → Magnesium nitrate + silver

c) Sodium + water → sodium hydroxide + hydrogen

d) calcium carbonate + water + carbon dioxide → calcium bicarbonate

To Find -

  • write the formula and balance the following chemical equation.

a)

CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O

b)

Mg + 2AgNO3 → Mg(NO3)2 + 2Ag

c)

2Na + 2H2O → 2NaOH + H2

d)

CaCO3 + H2O + CO2 → Ca(HCO3)2

Additional information :-

  • A balanced chemical equation has an equal no. of atoms of different elements in the reactant and products side.
  • An unbalanced chemical equation has unequal masses of various elements in reactants and products side.

Example :-

Unbalanced chemical equation :

  • H2 + O2 → H2O

Here, The no. of Hydrogen in reactant side and product side are equal but no. of oxygen in reactant side is 2 and in product side is 1. So, it is a unbalanced chemical equation.

Balanced chemical equation :

  • 2H2 + O2 → 2H2O

Here, The no. of Hydrogen and oxygen in reactant side and product side are equal. So, it is a balanced chemical equation.

  • The chemical equations are balanced to satisfy the law of conservation of mass in chemical reactions.

a ) CH4 + 2O2 -- CO2 + 2H2O

b ) Mg + 2AgNO3 -- Mg(NO3)2 + 2Ag

c )2Na + 2H2O -- 2NaOH + H2

d )CaCO3 + H2O + CO2 --. Ca(HCO3)2
