Let one number be x

and other number be 9-x

a/q

1/x + 1/9-x = 1/2

9-x+x/x(9-x) = 1/2

9/x(9-x) = 1/2

x(9-x)=18

x^2-9x+18=0

x^2-6x-3x+18=0

x(x-6)-3(x-6)=0

(x-6)(x-3)=0

x=6,3

when one=6, other=3

Answer:

3,6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number be 'a' and 'b'.

a+b=9

also 1/a +1/b=1/2

If we cross multiply to get LCM of fraction in the above equation, we get

(a+b)/ab=1/2

substituting value of a+b,

9/ab=1/2\\ie\\a*b=18

The only numbers statisfying a+b=9 and a*b=18 are 3 and 6

So the answer is 3,6.
