EXPLANATION.

(13) = P(x) = x² - 2√2x + 1.

Then P(2√2) is,

As we know that,

Put the value of x = 2√2 in the equation, we get.

⇒ P(2√2) = (2√2)² - 2√2(2√2) + 1.

⇒ P(2√2) = 8 - 8 + 1.

⇒ P(2√2) = 1.

Option [B] is correct answer.

(14) = Value of polynomial.

⇒ 5x - 4x² + 3  when  x = - 1.

As we know that,

Put the value of x = - 1 in the equation, we get.

⇒ P(-1) = 5(-1) - 4(-1)² + 3.

⇒ P(-1) = - 5 - 4 + 3.

⇒ P(-1) = - 9 + 3.

⇒ P(-1) = - 6.

Option [A] is correct answer.

Answer:

13. P (x) = x² - 2√2x + 1

Here P(x) = P(2√2)

So in the whole equation of x² - 2√2x + 1 we have to put 22 in place of x

Solution:-

= (2√2)² - 2√2(2√2) + 1

= 8 - 8 + 1

= 1

° b) 1

14. Value of polynomial 5x - 4x² + 3 when x = -1

Here we have to put -1 in the x of the equation

Solution:-

= 5 × (-1) - 4 × (-1)² + 3

= -5 - 4 + 3

= - 6

° a) = - 6
