5/x + 1/y = 2 and 6/x - 3/y = 1
let 1/x = m and 1/y = n
then above equation will become
5m + n = 2 .....(1). and 6m - 3n = 1 .....(2)
multiply ...(1) by 3 then add both the equations
we get
15m + 3n = 6
6m -3n = 1
→ 21m = 7
m = 1/3
put this in any of the equation
we get
3n = 1
again
n = 1/3
as we assume
m = 1/x = 1/3
so x = 3
and
n = 1/y = 1/3
so y = 3
therefore x = 3 and y = 3
