Plastids are double membrane organelle found in cells of plants and algae

Plastids are of 3 types.. chromo Plast, chloroplast and leucoplast..

Chromplast - they are produced by the leucoplast

Ex_caretinoids and phylocobins

Chloroplast - photosynthetic pigment

Leucoplast - food storage

Ex aleuroplast - protein storage

Amylopalst - starch storage

Answer:

The plastid is a membrane-bound organelle found in the cells of plants, algae, and some other eukaryotic organisms. There are 3 types of plastids. They are: 1. Chloroplast, 2. Chromoplasts, 3. Leucoplast.

Functions:

1. Chloroplast- I) It contains green colour pigment called chlorophyll.

ii) Present in green plants.

iii) Trap solar energy and convert it into chemical energy in the form of food through the process of photosynthesis.

2. Chromoplasts- I) Mostly found in the petals of flowers and fruits.

ii) They attract insects and animals for pollination and dispersal.

3. Leucoplast- I) Stores in the form of starch and proteins.

ii) Found in roots, seeds and other storage organs of plant.
