                ''Importance of Ramadan in Islam''

In the month of Ramadan, Muslims worldwide fast (sawm), pray, reflect on their acts. It is a month in which Quran was first revealed. Satan is chained during this month and fasting is obligatory for all adult Muslims who are healthy. Fasting in Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Fasting helps in retaining Taqwa and strengthening the ties of brotherhood.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and greater devotion and worship. Muslims are expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam.

The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran; a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the criterion (of right and wrong).

''And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; He desires not hardship for you; and that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that perhaps you may be thankful.''

Muslims also believe that for the poor people who don't have enough food they should fast so that the poor can get food to eat. This would also make them realize how poor feel when they remain hungry. The aim of fasting now seems to be being compassionate towards the poor people. Zakat is also paid during Ramadan.

Eid ul fitr is celebrated after Ramadan. Muslims get together early in the morning to offer the eid prayer, which consists of two rakats. It can only be prayed in congregation. This year, because of the covid-19 pandemic, the Eid prayer was performed with less people and in many places people feared the spread of the virus and didn't celebrate the Eid as occasionally done before.

hope this helps :-)
