Also volume of wire V = AL

=R=p L^2/V

we get R is directly proportional to L^2(as volume of wire remains the same when it is recasted)

Now the wire is melted and recasted to half of iys length i.e.L'=R (L/2)^2/L^2

thus new resistance is wire R'= R(L')^2/L^2

R'= R (L/2)^2/L^2 = R/4 Is the answer
