Answer:

196 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Since both lengths of the non-parallel sides are not equal, we shall cut the rectangle of length 10 cm out and that will leave us with a triangle. ( See attachment)

Define the lengths of the triangle:

Length 1 of the triangle = 14 cm

Length 2 of the triangle = 13 cm

Length 3 of the triangle = (25 - 10) = 15 cm

Find the area of the triangle using Heron's formula:

s = (14 + 13 + 15) ÷ 2 = 21

Area = √s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)

Area = √21(21 - 14)(21 - 13)(21 - 15)

Area = 84 cm²

Find the height of the triangle:

Area = 1/2 x base x height

84 = 1/2 x 15 x height

84 = 15h/2

15h = 168

h = 11.2 cm

Find the area of the trapezium:

Area = 1/2 (a + b) x h where a and b are the two parallel sides and h, the height.

Area = 1/2 ( 10 + 25) x 11.2

Area = 196 cm²

Answer: 196 cm²
