Answer: 1

(a) Friction is a force that holds back the movement of a sliding object. That's it. Friction is just that simple. You will find friction everywhere that objects come into contact with each other. The force acts in the opposite direction to the way an object wants to slide

(a) What is the difference between Rolling Friction and Sliding Friction?

Following is the table with rolling friction vs sliding friction:

Rolling friction Sliding friction

Rolling friction takes place when an object rolls on the surface. Sliding friction takes place when two surfaces are rubbed against each other.

Rolling friction takes place due to deformation of surfaces. Sliding friction takes place due to interlocking between microscopic surfaces.

The coefficient of rolling friction is dependent on radius of the rolling object, depth to which the object can sink, and the toughness of the surface. The coefficient of sliding friction depends on the texture of the surface and temperature to certain extent. It is independent of external factors.

Coefficient of rolling friction:

Fr = μrN

Coefficient of sliding friction:

Fk = μrN

(c) (2) We can reduce noise Pollution by following below mentioned Tips:

Turn off Appliances at Home and offices

Turn off home office appliances

We can turn off home and office appliances when not in use such as TV, games, computers etc. it can create unnecessary stress on ears. We can save electricity also when we turn them off.

Shut the Door when using noisy Machines

We can shut the door after we turn on dishwashers or washing machines for rooms where it is kept or we can turn them on before leaving the house so that overlapping of exposure to loud noises can be reduced

Use Earplugs

Use Ear Plugs

Use of earplugs or earmuffs can bring down loud noises to a manageable level. Earplugs are small inserts that fit into our ear canal.

Lower the volume

Lower Volume

Stay away from Noisy area

Follow the Limits of Noise level

Control Noise level near sensitive areas

Go Green by planning trees

Plant trees

Create Healthy noise to eliminate unwanted noise

Use Noise absorbents in noisy machineries

Use Proper Lubrication and Better maintenance

Notify Authorities about Disobedience of Noise Rules

Regularly check noise levels

reduce Noise pollution no Horn

Answer4

(a) Advantages of Friction:

Friction is responsible for many types of motion

It helps us walk on the ground

Brakes in a car make use of friction to stop the car

Asteroids are burnt in the atmosphere before reaching Earth due to friction.

It helps in the generation of heat when we rub our hands.

Disadvantages of Friction:

Friction produces unnecessary heat leading to the wastage of energy.

The force of friction acts in the opposite direction of motion, so friction slows down the motion of moving objects.

Forest fires are caused due to the friction between tree branches.

A lot of money goes into preventing friction and the usual wear and tear caused by it by using techniques like greasing and oiling.
