Use natural resources as much as possible. If you can cook with solar power, why use gas, oil or wood? Old days Gujrati people made their famius vegetable dish “Undhiu" by keeping the contents in earthen pot and burying the pot under sand till noon.

You must have heard about solar cookers. There are also several ways to cook and heat water on solar power. Solar and wind electricity is also coming in a big way. Street lights are going solar. Tirupathi Devasthanam as also Shirdi, Abu, Sabarimala and several places are using solar cooking on large scale to feed thousands of devotees every day.

Green buildings can save a huge amount of energy. In addition, we can inculcate a habit of using energy only when necessary.

With fossil fuels and coal on the way out over few decades, we can hope to achieve an environment friendly use of resources for all our energy needs.

The sad truth is that it does not help the environment to save fuel. Allow me to explain: fuel is a commodity and its flow in the economy remains relatively stable. This is why the compact cars that were developed as a reaction to the oil embargo in the 70s and then were mostly driven in the 80s and early 90s led to an increase in the supply oil— because they burned less fuel. Because fuel supply increased, it became less costly, so it then became economically feasible to then make SUVs. So compact cars created SUVs that created more demand for oil. This is due to the economic law of supply and demand. This means that the oil that was not burned in the compacts were in turn burned in the SUVs. This is a good example of the “invisible hand” of capitalistic markets and it is one of the prime reasons that is given to call for reform in capitalism. As long as capitalism exists in its current form climate change will continue relatively unabated.

Why we need to save fuel for better environment?

They are two unrelated activities.

It is only an advertising exercise.

If it makes you feel better , great.

It is suggested that consuming less petroleum products will create less CO2 gasses ,that may be harming the environment.

But, it is not been proven as a certainty.

Even if it is not a certainty, It is a worthy objective.

For example:

There are two drivers.

One uses a car to get from his suburban home to go to the central mass-transit access point. There the driver A boards a bus that takes 38 passengers up to 50 miles, to go to a central train hub station, that then goes into the downtown of a major city.

Driver B takes a car , and travels the 60 miles, through stop-and-go traffic through congested roads, that eventually come to a car-park that costs $30 to park a car for the day.

Which of the two drivers use less fuel?

It is approximately a tie, since they both use fuel, just in different quantities, and has different uses. In the A driver , there are three transit agencies, three sets of employers, along with their related subsidies.

In the B scenario, the User is paying the entire pricing of the fuel (and parking), In the A scenario, the taxpayer is paying a significant portion of the operating costs , including the fuel.

So, does the two drivers have a difference on the amount of fuel consumed to get from A to B? Not really. But the Driver A is getting a state-sponsored and taxpayer subsidized ride, while the ‘B’ driver is paying the full burden.

What is not being asked in this question and is missing , is the purpose of the burning of fuel. Is it for :

Heat for warmth.

Cooking for food.

Transportation (local).

Transportation (long distance).

So, since the original poster was Anonymous, That only leaves the option to flag this question as incomplete.

There are pragmatic reasons to save fuel:

High fuel consumption pressures oil demand which causes high prices and disputes for oil supply. The oil supply market is unstable because main suppliers are Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Iraq and Canada. There are some relevant supply in West Africa too.

The Asian giants economic growth are translate in continuous growth of oil comsumption and thus an enormous pressure on Middle East oil production and on Russia oil supply.

God gifted us many things. He made the world and our planet Earth. On Earth, we human are undoubtedly dependent on various things. We’re also dependent to Fuel. Aren’t we? Yes we’re dependent. Fuel is a thing when heated produce energy.

We need various things for making ourselves good such as Food. For cooking food, we need fuel. So, Fuel is very important and its role is indispensable. For example: Food works like a fuel in human body. It gives energy to human body and helps in maintaining the growth and life of human and animals as well.

Fossil Fuels such as coal, petroleum, natural gas are mainly used in industries for various purposes. Electricity, the thing which we need daily as a source of energy is also produced by Fossil fuels. Rapid and Uncontrolled urbanization also has the demand of more Energy which is being produced by fuels. We can’t do much without fuels.

Combustion of fuels has a bad impact on our Environment and led to the pollution. Our environment includes birds, trees, water, air etc. We’re also willingly dependent on our Environment. Environment is clean than only we’ve fresh mind and healthy. Combustion of fossil fuels led the formation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It harms our Environment. The air is mixed with greenhouse gases and we breathe. It effects on our lives and health. It may cause respiratory diseases such as asthma and pulmonary disorder. It may also harm to our ecosystem.

The ozone layer safeguards our earth. It defend us from the ultraviolet rays coming from the sun. The combustion of fuels produces greenhouse gases which led to the depleting of ozone layer faster. This affects the earth. We’ll suffer from it.

We need a peaceful environment and a better place to live. For making our environment safe we should not use vehicles much which need more fuel. Wow! It saves our money. Let’s make people aware of walking and using more and more bicycle not any fuel consuming vehicle. We should switch off engines while waiting for traffic light.

Let’s use more and more LED bulbs and computer monitors. Let’s use CNG engines. Let’s use solar boats while travelling though water bodies. Let’s use clean renewable fuels. Let’s make our lives peaceful by saving fuel. Let’s make our future peaceful and brighter.
