Let original cost be Rs. x per dozen

so, one could buy 840/x dozen for Rs. 840

Now, cost is x+2 per dozen

so, one can buy 840/(x+2) dozen

We are given,

840/x - 840/(x+2) = 1

Solving above Eqn. x = 40 or x = -42 (neglect)

Hence Original cost is Rs. 40 Per dozen
