One of the factors which affects the climate of a place is the moderating influence of sea! India is surrounded with water bodies on three sides. The differential rate of heating and cooling of landmass causes land and Sea breezes.... So the climate of coastal area is modified by the influence of these breezes but places in the interior are far away from moderating influence of these breezes. And so they have very hot Summers and cold winters.
