Define the following:-

a. Tendons

Tendons are the connective tissues that transmit the mechanical force of muscle contraction to the bones; the tendon is firmly connected to muscle fibres at one end and to components of the bone at its other end.

b. ligaments

Ligaments are bands of tough elastic tissue around your joints. They connect bone to bone, give your joints support, and limit their movement. You have ligaments around your knees, ankles, elbows, shoulders, and other joints. Stretching or tearing them can make your joints unstable.

Differentiate-

a. involuntary: A muscle movement not under conscious control e.g. the beating of the heart. striated: The striped appearance of certain muscle types in which myofibrils are aligned to produce a constant directional tension. voluntary: A muscle movement under conscious control e.g. deciding to move the forearm.
