in ABC , using pythagoras we get ,

AC = (12)²+(3)² = 317

Now, in ADC, again using , we get ,

DC = (13)² - (217)² = 169-153 = 4 (Ans)

Step-by-step explanation:

AB = 3 CM

AD= 13cm

BC= 12cm

by using Pythagoras therom on triangle ABC

AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2

= 3^2 + 12^2

= 9 + 144

= 153

AC = √153

by Pythagoras therom on triangle ACD

AD^2 = DC^2 + AC^2

DC^2 = AD^2 - AC^2

= 169 - 153

DC^2 = 16

DC=√ 16

DC= 4cm
