a) we know that torque on a wheel when two equal and opposite forces are acting can be given by the relation,

T = F x d

where F = force

d = diameter = 2r = 2 x 0.25 = 0.5 m

Hence,

force, F = T/d

= 1/0.5

= 2 Newton

Hence the magnitude of this force is 2 N

b) The forces acting on the wheel is shown in the diagram attached. Please see the attachment (b).

c) The direction of the rotation can be changed by reversing the direction of both the forces acting on it. Please see the attached diagram (c) as how when the direction of both the forces is reversed so the direction of rotation becomes anti clockwise from clockwise.

Given a steering wheel of radius 0.25 m is rotated clockwise by a torque 1 N m produced due to a pair of equal and opposite force. We need to find the magnitude of the force.

The measure of a force that causes an object to rotate about an axis is a Torque.

Torque is given by

              T = F x r

 Where T = 1 N m, r = 0.25 m

            1 = F x 0.25

            F = 1 / 0.25

            F = 4 N

The magnitude of force is 4 Newton.
