Analogous organs are the opposite of homologous organs, which have similar functions but different origins. An example of an analogous trait would be the wings of insects, bats and birds that evolved independently in each lineage separately after diverging from an ancestor without wing.

Genetic Drift is a variation in the relative frequency of different genotypes in a small population, owing to the chance disappearance of particular genes as individuals die or do not reproduce.

1. They differ morphologically.

2. They have similar internal structure.

3. They develop in related organisms.

4. Stages in the development are similar.

5. They perform different functions.

6. They have similar developmental pattern.

7. Homologous organs show adaptive radiation (divergent evolution).

Analogous Organs:

1. They show superficial resemblance.

2. Their internal structure is quite different.

3. They develop in unrelated organisms.

4. Stages in the development are different.

5. They have similar functions.

6. They have dissimilar developmental pattern.
