a) Distance travelled = AB + BC = 4 + 5 = 9 cm Displacement is to be calculated by Pythagoras theorem, for the shortest distance between A and C is the length of AC.

AC^2 = 4^2 + 5^2

AC^2 = 16 + 25

AC^2 = 41

AC = √41

b) Distance travelled = AB + BC + CD = 4 + 5 + 4 = 13cm

Displacement = AD = 5 cm

c) Distance travelled = AB + BC + CD + DA = 4+5+4+5 = 18cm

There is no change in position, hence the displacement is 0.
