Answer:

There are 7 ways in which a person can spend exactly Rs. 1000 to buy pens and notebooks.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A pen costs Rs.11 and a notebook costs Rs.13.

To find : The number of ways in which a person can spend exactly Rs. 1000 to buy pens and notebooks?

Solution :

Let x be the number of pen.

Let y be the number of notebook.

According to question,

A pen costs Rs.11 and a notebook costs Rs.13.

i.e. Total cost 11x+13y

A person spend exactly Rs.1000.

Therefore, The required equation form is 11x+13y=1000

or x=\frac{1000-13y}{11}

Now, For different value y there is different value of x.

y    5     16    27     38    49   60    71

x   85   72     59    46   33    20     7

Hence, There are 7 ways in which a person can spend exactly Rs. 1000 to buy pens and notebooks.
