then a+b=(4/2) =2, and ab=5/2

now, a+b+3ab=2+(5/2) +3.2.(5/2) =2+(5/2) +15

={2(17) +5}/2

=39/2

(ii) (1/a) ^2+(1/b) ^2={(a^2+b^2)/(ab) ^2}

={(a+b)^2-2ab}/(5/2) ^2

={2^2-2(5/2) }/(25/4)

=(-1) /(25/4)

=(-4) /25
