Explanation:

n₁ : speed of light in X medium

n₂ : speed of light in Y medium

nₐ : speed of light in air/ vacuum

                     n₂/n₁ = 1.5

Also,         n₁ / nₐ = 1.5

Thus,      (n₂/nₐ) ÷ (n1/nₐ) =  n₂/n₁

                                       = 1.6

         ⇒   (n₂/nₐ) ÷ 1.5= 1.6

                  (n₂/nₐ) = 1.6* 1.5

                             = 2.4

n₂/nₐ  =   vₐ/v₂

⇒ 2.4   = 3 * 10⁸ / v₂

v₂ = 3/2.4 * 10⁸

   = 1.25 * 10⁸ , which is the speed of the light in medium Y
