Since,

Discriminant = D  \\ D=  {b}^{2}  - 4ac

So,

D \:  =  {( - 4)}^{2}  - 4 \times 2 \times 3 \\  = 16 -24 =  - 8

Since,

D > 0

Then the quadratic equation has 2 distinct solutions.
