a) This is because a snowshoes has a greater surface area in contact with the snow due to which there is less pressure on the snow. An ordinary shoe has a small surface area in contact with the soft snow and so exerts a greater pressure on the snow

b) Porter keep a round piece of cloth on their heads, when they carry heavy loads because by doing this they increase the area of the contact o the load with their head. so the pressure on their head is reduced and they find it easier to carry the load

c) The tools meant for cutting and piercing such as knives, needle and saws have sharp blades or points to reduce the area of contact so that exert greater pressure with a comparatively small force.

d) Shoulder bags are provided with wide straps because it decreases the pressure by increasing the surface area which makes it easier to carry them

e) The area if the pointed end of the needle is much smaller than that of it's head. So it is easy to burst an inflated balloon with a needle. Smaller the area, larger the pressure on a surface for the same force
