ANSWER

GIVEN :

  • SIZE OF THE OBJECT ( h) = 4CM
  • DISTANCE OF THE OBJECT FROM THE MIRROR ( u) =15cm
  • FOCAL LENGTH (f) = 10cm

TO FIND :

IMAGE DISTANCE (V) = ?

SIZE = ?

NATURE = ?

SOLUTION :

USING MIRROR FORMULA = 1/v + 1/u =1/f

1/f- 1/u = 1/v

=> 1/-10 - 1/-15 = 1/v

=>1/10 + 1/-15 =1/v

=> 2 -3 /30 =1/v

=> -1/30 = 1/v

Hence v = -30cm.

THE IMAGE IS FORMED IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR.

size of the image = magnification

hi/h = -v/u

=> hi = -v/u × h

=> hi = -30/-15 ×4

=> hi = 8 cm

The image is magnified twice

Nature : image is real, inverted and is formed in front of the mirror.

  • If the object is moved towards the image will be magnified.
