Given,

  • Distance from the object to the mirror is 12cm
  • The object moves 3 cm away from the mirror, hence now the distance from the mirror to the object is 12+3 = 15cm
  • The mirror moves 3cm away, therefore now the distance from the mirror to the object is 15+3 = 18cm
  • We know that, THE DISTANCE FROM THE OBJECT TO THE MIRROR IS EQUAL TO THE DISTANCE FROM THE MIRROR TO IMAGE.
  • So, the distance from image to the object will be 18+18 = 36cm
  • ANSWER = 36CM
  • Reflection is the change in direction of a moving wave (can be sound wave or light wave etc) due to the smoothness of the surface. Reflection is what helps us see everyday objects.
