→we know that if two lines are parallel then if a transerval passes through it.then their corresponding angles are equal ...
→in the given figure, x=y( corresponding angles are equal) ..so in converse , the lines should be parallel

Given :-
∠x = ∠y
these angles are also the corresponding angles of the lines l and m
Also , there is a traversal passing through the lines.
When , the corresponding angles are equal , then the lines are also parallel.
Hence ,
l || m
