Earth returns an equal amount of energy back to space by reflecting some incoming light and by radiating heat (thermal infrared energy). Most solar energy is absorbed at the surface, while most heat is radiated back to space by the atmosphere.

Explanation:

The gases present in our atmosphere reflect the radiation of sun. Only small amount of radiation reaches the earth ground . Even our ozone layer helps in reflecting Ultra Violet rays. If there is no ozone layer all humans will die due to ultra violet rays. These cause burning sensation in our skin.

By reflecting some of the sun's radiation, atmosphere is helping in maintaining constant temperature on earth
