Onion peel cells are rectangular in shape, having distinct cell walls whereas human cheek cells are flat polygonal cells with irregular boundaries. Examiner : Name the cell organelle found only in cheek cells (animal cells) but absent in onion peel cells.

ii)Precautions to be taken for temporary mount of onion peel are:

Use a brush to transfer onion peel to slide.

Avoid overstaining and understaining of the peel.

Avoid folding of the peel while placing on the slide.

Use clean and dry glass slide and coverslip.

Avoid air bubbles while putting coverslip.
