Given x + 1/x.

On squaring, we get

(x + 1/x)^2 = x^2 + 1/x^2 + 2 * x * 1/x

                 = 25 + 2

                 = 27

x + \frac{1}{x} = \sqrt{27}

Hope this helps!

(x + 1/x)²= x²+ 1/x² + 2× x× 1/x
(x + 1/x)²= 25 + 2
x+ 1/x = √27
Hope it helps
