given, (3+√2)/(3-√2) = a+√b

to find values of a and b

rationalise the denominator by multiplying both numerator and the denominator by the conjugate of the (of the denominator) 3+√2

(3+√2)*(3+√2)/3-√2)*(3+√2)

= (3+√2)^2/[(3^2) - (√2)^2]

= (9 + 2 + 6√2)/3-2

= 11+6√2

therefore 11+6√2 = a+b√2

on comparing we get a=11 and b = 6
