At 10 am both school bell and clock tower will sound together

Given:

The school bell rings every 40 minutes and

The clock tower of the city centre rings every 60 minutes

At 8 am both bells sounded together

To find:

At what time will both of them make their sound next.

Solution:

To solve the above we need to find Least common factor of 40 and 60

To find LCM (40, 60) write them as product of prime factors

⇒ 40 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 5

⇒ 60 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 5

LCM (40, 60) = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 5 = 120

Therefore,

Here we can conclude that for every 120 mins the school bell and clock tower will sounded together.

120 mins = 2 hrs

Given that at 8 am the school bell and clock tower sounded together then the school bell and clock tower will sounded together after 2 hrs

At 10 am both school bell and clock tower will sound together
