y(y - 3) = 4 \\ opening \: the \: brackets \: we \: get \\ {y}^{2} - 3y - 4 = 0 \\ by \: using \: splitting \: the \: \\ middle \: ter m \: method \: we \: get \\ {y}^{2} - 4y + y - 4 = 0 \\ y(y - 4) + 1(y - 4) = 0 \\ (y + 1)(y - 4) = 0 \\ y = - 1 \: \: \: or\\ y = 4
