Therefore, Median = Average of 3rd and 4th observations.

⇒ 18.5 = (a + 7 + 20)/2

⇒ a = 10

Therefore, value of a = 10.

Now,

∴ Mean = (Sum of observations)/(Total number of observations)

⇒ Mean = (9 + a + 3 + a + 7 + 20 + 23 + 26)/(6)

              = (9 + 10 + 3 + 10 + 7 + 20 + 23 + 26)/6

              = 108/6

              = 18.

Therefore, Mean = 18.
