Self-pollination refers to a type of pollination wherein the pollen from the anther is transferred to the stigma of a single flower. Flowers that carry out self-pollination are hermaphrodite. A hermaphrodite flower is one in which both the stamen and the carpel are present.

Cross Pollination

Cross pollination is when one plant pollinates a plant of another variety. The two plants' genetic material combines and the resulting seeds from that pollination will have characteristics of both varieties and is a new variety.
