Answer:

Option a is the right answer

GIVEN:

  • Resistors are connected in series.

  • Resistance ,R1 = 10 ohm

  • Resistance, R2 = 15 ohm.

  • Voltage of battery ,V = 6 volt.

TO FIND:

  • Current through resistor , R1

  • Current through resistor , R2

FORMULA:

  • According to ohm's law , V=IR

  • Net resistance in series ,R = R1 + R2

NOTE:

  • In series combination, the current through the resistors will be same.

  • In series combination of resistors, the voltage will change for individual resistor.

  • In parallel connection ,the individual resistor has different value of current.

  • In parallel combination, the voltage across each resistors will be same.

SOLUTION:

STEP 1 : TO FIND NET RESISTANCE

R = R1 + R2

R = 10 + 15

R = 25 ohm

STEP 2: TO FIND TOTAL CURRENT

V = IR

I = V/R

I = 6/25

I = 0.24 ampere

INFERENCE:

  • From the question ,we can observe that the resistors are connected in series.

  • So the total current will be equal in all resistors connected in series.

  • Current through 10 ohm resistor is 0.24 ampere

  • Current through 15 ohm resistor is 0.24 ampere

ANSWER:

So the ratio of current passing through 10 ohm and 15 ohm resistor is 0.24/0.24 = 1 : 1

SHORT TRICK:

  • In series connection ,the current will be same irrespective of the value of individual resistor. So the ratio is 1 : 1
