Now DE is parallel to BC.

So triangle ADE is similar to triangle ABC.

so AD/AB = DE/BC

that implies 5/9 = DE/BC

Now in triangles DEF and BFC,

angle BFC = angle DFE

angle FBC = angle FED

therefore triangle DFE is similar to triangle BFC.

So ar(DEF)/ar(BFC) = DE2 / BC2 = (5/9)2 = 25/81
