Pls explain this example 7 solution i understood that chargers at all corners will be cancelled out except +7q and -7q that also i got
But when they calculated force there the charge is 7q both are taken as positive but there is one neagtive -7q can u explain me plssssss

While calculating force using Coulomb's law, only magnitude of the charge must be taken into consideration.

In this case +7q repels +q and -7q attracts +q, so the net direction of force is along -7q.

Soumya5887: That i undstood
Soumya5887: But when coloumb law is used to calculate force then there one value of charge is +q and another is -q so why both r taken as positive
Soumya5887: ?????
RajivShastry: See if u have one positive and one negative charge, if u consider -ve sign in eqn, then the force will be negative. But the force experienced by +ve and -ve charge is attractive force which is positive. So taking -ve sign contradicts coulombs law.
Soumya5887: Ok
Soumya5887: Pls ans my another que
