I read thro many answers and understood the terms monoecious and dioecious are used only for plants , but am confused what is the difference between homothallic and heterothallic organisms? ( whether these terms refer to plants or animals or both?)

as we use monoecious to denote the bisexual condition in plants and animals ,we use homothallic in case of several fungi.
and heterothallic to describe dieocius /unisexual condition in fungi.
