Light reactions are those which are dependent on light i.e the two photosystem operating in stroma. PS I lies outside and PS II lies in lumen.

Dark reactions take place in matrix and depend on product of light reactions (Calvin Cycle requires 3 ATP and 2 NADPH which are formed during cyclic and non cylic phosphorylation occuring in PS II and PS I)
